Can You Feel The Excitement?

The Padres open the season in three days and the buzz around town is ... uh, well, if you can find anybody excited about the Padres, let us know.
With opening day just around the corner, the lack of buzz, lack of anticipation is quite apparent. Other than the dorks on 1090 radio, is anybody talking about this team?
A palpable sense of apathy seems to be the only emotion this town has regarding the Padres.
And we wonder why?
Hmm, could it be that this is just a remarkably boring team? A team devoid of any everyday stars, a team whose best player -- Jake the Fake -- is only on the field once every five days.
Yep, the Padres have to be the most boring good team in baseball.
A good team, yes. But also a painfully dull team.
Khalil Greene, of course, is the Padres' poster boy for dullness. Nice guy, sure, and an OK player, if you like streaky hitters who tend to go into slumps that last for two months. But Khalil has the personality of lint, and on this team, that seems to be the norm.
Of course, the man responsible for assembling this blend of blandness is general manager Kevin Towers, who answers to the colorful nickname "KT."
Nice job, KT!
This team would be a lot more entertaining if Milton Bradley were still around.
